Important Legal Update for Matrimonial Cases in Delhi
The Delhi High Court has ruled that a husband’s Income Tax Returns (ITR) are personal information and cannot be disclosed under the Right to Information Act, 2005 unless there is a larger public interest.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav clarified that sharing such financial details in matrimonial disputes would be an unwarranted invasion of privacy.
What this means for you:
✔️ ITR details cannot be accessed via RTI in divorce/maintenance cases
✔️ Financial information must be obtained through proper court procedures
✔️ Protects individual privacy in matrimonial disputes
